KARIONG
RURAL FIRE SERVICE NEWS
LETTER 20/11/02 Hi folks, back again with more news that’s
going around Kariong RFS. First of all, I’m thinking that you may have
noticed the heat lately. Well, I’m telling you it’s been hot and
with this heat and low humidity; Bushfires. As one job is finishes,
another starts and I can
tell you that there are a lot of tired and cranky firemen out there both
RFS and NSWFB who would enjoy a break, but it doesn't look like that
will happen too soon. I would like to point out, and make clear that,
anyone found deliberately lighting a fire that has the potential to
cause mischief, damage or injury can expect the full weight of the law
brought down upon them. Standpipe says, if you have any knowledge or
have witnessed a criminal act of arson, then contact Gosford Police.
Trust me, they’ll be more than glad to hear from you and you’ll be
doing the community (and your local fire fighters) a huge favor. OK
something on a brighter scale, Kariong's fund raising crew have been
hard at work down at Clint's Crazy Bargains in Gosford flogging raffle tickets
for our Christmas Raffle. I was suitably impressed with the prize, being
a 6x4 box trailer with rego and chock-a-block full of goodies from Clint's. It’ll be drawn on the 21st of Dec. at
Clint's, just in time for
Christmas. If you see us out there, come on over and buy a ticket and
support your local RFS. Other news to hand, see’s Kariong being
committed to sending crews to areas as far away as Tamworth and Glen
Innes. They’ve been pretty taxing operations both on man and machine
and to those that went, a big ONYA. Also, Kariong was involved with the
Cancer Councils Walk For Life held last month and our most benevolent
Treasurer Lorain Myers tells me that Kariong did well by raising over a
thousand dollars. For those that participated, another big ONYA. Standpipe would like to acknowledge the
following businesses that have also supported us during the year and
they are BBQs Gallore, Erina. Kariong Kakes, Kariong. Domayne, West
Gosford. Singos Butchery. East Gosford Meats. A&B Providores-Fruit
and Vegetables. With the festive period rapidly approaching, the
RFS wishes to make you aware to be vigilant on the roads and drive to
the conditions. Remember, alcohol and driving don’t mix and show
common sense when partaking of the light brown ale or spirituous
beverages. By all means have a good time, but remember...drink and
drive...you bloody idiot. Finally, on behalf of all Kariong RFS members, I
would like to wish all a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous New
Year.
