Hi all. Back again with some more snippets of news from Kariong Rural Fire
Brigade. Well it seems that the weather can't make up its mind lately with
rainy days, windy days and stinking hot days. One thing for sure though, you
can't let your guard down so as we all get into the Christmas mode, still
make sure that you've done your basic fire danger period house keeping. You
know, tidy up around the house, trim the bushes close to the house and so
on. There's a beaut ad on the telly highlighting the fact and if you're
still not sure on what to do, pop up to your nearest fire station and just
ask the guys there and they'll set you straight or simply ring Gosford
Bushfire Control 4340 2911.
My pet "irrit" this month is yet again, the speeding driver. Whether on the
F3 or in our own Langford Drive, this lowly breed tries to co-exist with
those who use the road wisely. It appears that they think the law doesn't
apply to them and speed advisory signs are simply roadside decorations. Even
worse, trying to "lay rubber" in built up areas or any area for that matter
is a recipe for disaster with kids, pets and adults around and those rouge
trees that "jump out at you" growing by the road side. Remember folks, the
boys in blue loose their sense of humour rapidly when it comes to these
hoons so my advise is that if you want to save some cash, points or even
your own life, SLOW DOWN! Folks I didn't pick this subject "out of the
blue", I did have a reason. That is as I have mentioned, Christmas is just
around the corner so please; DRIVE SAFE and ARRIVE SAFE.
To other news. Our raffle has begun in earnest with tickets going on sale
down at the Warehouse Gosford Town Centre. Two bucks each or three for five
dollars is a great investment for the prize and you should see it. As
promised, a 6x4 trailer with rego and fire engine red...go figure,
chock-a-block with goodies for mum, dad and especially the kids. I'm not
kidding folks; it really is chockas full of stuff not to mention the lawn
mower and leaf blower we had to strap onto the side because there was no
room in the trailer. Have a look also at the second prize, which is a 68cm
colour TV with surround sound. So when you're in town next time, check it
out!
Righto guys and gals, that's it from me. On behalf of Kariong Rural Fire
Brigade and all firies on the Central Coast, have a great Christmas and a
beaut New Year. Remember, drive carefully and arrive safe and I'll catch up
with you next issue.
Seeya.
